A work of interest primarily because it is one of the few on defensive play. Generally, the advice is sound, and the 30 main deals, as well as the final five, are reasonably well chosen, often sourced from well-known authors. The points made are valuable but not thematic, as the book was developed from a series of magazine articles. It's negative features include too "cute" titles for the chapters, the stilted text is made even difficult for modern readers as it used the A-B/Y-Z nomenclature of Auction Bridge rather than the modern WNES.
